Sammy J’s reimagining of the fated Burke and Wills expedition debut has won him the Award for Outstanding New Australian Music Theatre Writing at the 2026 Green Room Awards. 

Fiasco was also nominated for Outstanding Production (Musical Theatre Independent), Outstanding Performance in a Leading Role – Sammy J (Musical Theatre Independent), Outstanding Musical Direction – Richard Vaudrey (Musical Theatre Independent), Outstanding Direction – Wes Snelling (Musical Theatre Independent).
