Frankie McNair is an award-winning comedian, actor and screenwriter, best known for their absurd, heartfelt comedy and powerful character work.
After winning Best Newcomer at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in 2022 for their unique mix of stand-up and non sequitur sketch comedy in Relax Your Knees, Frankie went on to perform the award-winning show at the Soho Theatre in London, and to sold-out crowds at venues and festivals across the country. Frankie quickly followed this up with their hilarious portrayal of heavily medicated lounge singer ‘Tabitha Booth’, in the critically acclaimed An Intimate Evening with Tabitha Booth, a one-hour show of unhinged comedy like no other! In 2025, Frankie was a recipient of the MICF Moosehead Award for The Booth Variety Spectacular & Formal Apology Hour, which played to packed houses and further bolstered Tabitha Booth’s cult following.
As an actor, Frankie recently appeared in the television drama series, High Country, portrayed Liz in the SBS series Safe Home and appeared on ABC’s award-winning sketch comedy show, Aunty Donna’s Coffee Café. Frankie co-starred in their independently produced IGTV series, Couples in Iso, which captured an incredible audience. They co-starred in the upcoming web series, No-bodies Business, was the lead actor in Alice Tovay’s debut horror-comedy short film, HEN, and featured in online campaigns for Heaps Normal and Brookvale Union’s Ginger Beer.
Frankie has been a guest performer on Network Ten’s Thank God You’re Here and New Zealand’s comedy panel game show, 7 Days. They appeared on ABC’s Question Everything and JFL TV’s Just For Laughs Australia: Live at the Sydney Opera House television gala. Frankie was a guest comedian on Grouse House’s online original comedy series, Expanded Minds Only, and you may have heard them on Radio National’s Too Hard Basket or Triple J’s Hottest 100 Campaign.
As a screenwriter, Frankie received competitive Screen Australia funding to develop their online series, SNACK (a series about an anxious banana who starts going to therapy), and their first short film, LAUNDRY, was runner up in the Sony Catchlight Film Festival. Frankie has written for The Guardian Australia, and participated in various television writer’s rooms. Most recently, Frankie wrote and independently produced the six part series, The Telling of the Untold Story of Tabitha Booth (available on YouTube channel Grouse House).
As well as being a popular performer at corporate and LGBTQIA+ events, Frankie has a passion for creating new and exciting work that is both deeply heartfelt and incredibly silly. She is by far one of Australia’s foremost rising talents.
